On Tuesday, June 6 Santa Clara County voters will have the opportunity to close the deepening funding gaps between the services our citizens expect and the revenues we can collect to provide those services. Measure A would enact a one-half cent sales tax for 30 years, to be used for general county purposes, and would provide vital funding for important projects like our County hospital system, support for affordable housing and for other social services.
As Executive Director of the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County, I am very pleased and proud that our organization has chosen to support Measure A. If essential county services are cut any further, families and seniors won’t have access to affordable homes, and health services and transportation improvements will suffer. We are extremely hopeful that this measure will pass in our county to help ensure a stronger infrastructure for those many, many people at risk in our county. It goes without saying that affordable housing is critical to the health of the County, and we urge all voters to vote yes on Measure A.
